PROJECTS
Based on my fascinaton by religion, mythology and folklore, this project‘s aim was to explore the creation of those systems and the human input in them. I am creating my own religion, although it has very little to do with me as a person - much more important is the actual process of creating. As religions have very strong visual bank of symbols and icons, I present my religion visually as well, in form of a collection of books - the book carrying the essence of the religion (bible if you will), the visual photobook carrying the surface of the religion and the visual encyclopedia all made of found imagery placing the religion in context.
Kniha (“Book“ in Czech) - is the base of The New Religion, its subtitle says This Book Explains Everything but paradoxically it is all typed in a cryptical font and therefore impossible to decode by simply reading. The alternative alphabet can be eventually understood by analysing pages where occasionally more alphabets are present.
However, what the words say is not as important as the actual physicality of this book and the pure fact that it exists. It is the one out of the collection most reminiscent of religious books, Bibles, Qurans... It defines the religion visually and symbolically and as a poem without words, it really does explain what this project is about. Multiple reads are recommended.

THE NEW RELIGION
BOOK 2: LEXICON OF THIS WORLD
Lexicon of This World - connects the parallel reality of my religion to the existing world. Being composed exclusively out of found images, it creates new meaning for the existing in the context of the alternative angle. Two dimensions - relations between images on the page and between images and keywords - create a new collage-like point of view. Even though I have a reason for placing each image the way I did, it is up to the reader to find their own explanations, meanings and questions.
Icons A - D - is a collection of hyper-stylised or edited photographs setting the base of the obvious visual language of The New Religion, working with iconography and depiction of gods and rituals. The purpose of the icons is to manifest a religion created in the 21st century but based on human nature and animalistic roots to examine the creation of religions in general. While the core of the new artificial manifesto spins around self-indulgence and natural pleasure, the message gets lost as it again gives space to the pure exploration of the building process and the debate about what is real and what is fake and what is to be believed in.

FLOWERS IN CHURCHES IN PALERMO
[2018]
Publication documenting plants found in the city of Palermo and its surroundings parallellled with the Marco Risi‘s 1990‘s film Ragazzi Fuori. Such hybrid format of field documentation and a cinematographic review allowed me to capture the often neglected but amazingly organic beauty of this Sicilian city. Number of cannoli consumed while working on this project: 24.
JEALOUSY
[2017]
OSLAVA MAGAZINE
[2017]
Redesign of Alain Robbe-Grillet‘s 1967‘s nouveau roman La Jalousie (translatable both as jealousy or window blinds). In repetetive sequences via seemingly banal descriptions with almost clinical precision a man suspects his wife "A," who's face we never see, has an affair with their neighbour. Oh yeah, and they live in the middle of a banana plantation.
My version is composed of three little separate books in a clamshell box - the English translation featuring French-fold and hidden images between the pages, a booklet of illustrations by me, and the French original illustrated by jealousy-infused artwork from the Uffizi collection.
Collaborative magazine aiming to celebrate and find reasons to party, rather than criticise the party-poopers. Concept development together with Sara Lavelle and Nikki Willis.
Active benevolence. Politics and poetry. Includes artwork, essays, poetry and photography by us and our friends.
(Oslava = celebration in Czech)
BABY
[2017]
A fake cover design for Ariel Pink's Baby single LP. Fun collaboration with the amazing Anna Karavaeva and Ryan Yao.
A publication partially being a redesign of an old fishing handbook found in a bookshop in Minneapolis, partially a reflection on the fishermen culture and aesthetics. A fishing handbook for readers who are not necessarily interested in fishing but definitely fascinated by fishermen holding trouts in their Tinder profile pictures. Practical information, maps, subtle sexual subtext.
